16th May 2010 - Akshaya Triteeyai |
|
SrI: Dear Sri Matam sishyAs : Akshaya Triteeyai is the third day of Sukla Paksham. It falls on May 16 ( 2nd Day of VaikAsi )this year. It is a day sacred for worship of Sriman Narayanan. PuNya karmAs done on this sacred day multiply many fold. It is an ideal day for receiving upadEsams on Mahaa mantrams from one's AchAryans and reflect on our Acharya ParamparA. It is a perfect day for making new beginnings to ensure undiminishing returns. SambhAvanai to one's AchAryan, who blessed us with SamAsrayaNa / BharanyAsa anugrahams, is highly recommended on this sacred day. It is an ideal day for performing PuNya KarmAs like Mantra Japam, SaaLagrama dhaanam, VishNu Sahasra Naama PaarAyaNam and the darsanam of Sriman NarayaNan on Garuda Vaahanam. The 12 Garuda Sevai at KumbakONam Big Street takes place on this day. Lord SarangapANi, ChakrapANi, Raaman, Varaahan and other sacred archAs from the city and suburbs of KumbakONam can be enjoyed on Garuda Vaahanam under a big pandal near Ahobila Matam at Periya Theru of Thirukkudanthai ( KumbakONam). Akshaya means that which never diminishes. The Sukla Paksha Triteeyai is considered to be the auspicious day, when Lord Krishna blessed the Paandavas with the Akshaya Paatram that was the source of undiminishing food. This saved the PaaNDavAs during their Vana Vaasam and particularly when Sage DhurvAsaar arrived for bhojanam at Droupathi's home after the midday meal was served. It is also considered as the day in which Veda VyAsar dictated MahA Bhaaratam to Vigneswara. In Kerala and elsewhere, this day is recognized as the avatAra dinam of the sixth avatAram of ParaSu Raamar ( Parasu Raama Jayanti). In northern India, KubhEra Poojai is done for increase in the family's wealth. On this day, mercantile interests push the sale of precious metals and Jewelery. Gold's golden run takes place in India on this day and many rush "religiously " to purchase gold instead of turning inward to Bhagavad AarAdhanam, Mantra Japam and DhAnams. VidhyA dhAnam through the support of Veda PaatasaalAs on Akshaya Trutheeyai is one of the best thing to do on this day. It is one of the most sacred Muhurtams of the Year. The other two best Muhurtham days are YugAdhi and Vijaya Dasami. On this Akshaya Triteeyai day, adiyEn recommends the following priority activities : 1) Support of Your AchAryans during the upcoming ChAthur Maasya Vratam ( July 25 - Sep 22, 2010). There is nothing more important than supporting one's AchAryan and His Kaimkaryams through this mode of annual support. Your samarpaNams can be whatever you can afford. We still have Six days in August ( 4,8,10, 14, 17 and 30) and Seven and half days open for Sri Matam SishyAs to serve Srimath Azhagiya Singars during this year's ChAthurmAsyam at Selayur. You can make your samarpaNams online here. 2) VishNu Sahasra Naama PaarAyanam and recital of Sri Raghuveera Gadhyam and Garuda Dhandakam :The Sahasra Naama PaarAyaNam can be done during Morning, Noon and Evening following the daily TrikAla SanshyAvandhanams. e books in the Sundarasimham series ( http://www.sundarasimham.org ) have the Sanskrit Text, Meanings and audio of both Sri Raghuveera Gadhyam and Garuda Dhandakam. 3) Receiving Mantra UpadEsam from a SadaachAryan or a qualified upaasakar on Garuda, Hayagriva, Sudarsana, Raama Taaraka and SrI NrisimhAnushtup mantrams for those who have been blessed with SamAsraya/BharanyAsams. 4) Supporting Veda PaatasAlAs, Colleges of Arts and Sciences established by the AchAryans. The new Malolan Arts and Sciences College at MadhurAntakam is about to admit its first class of Students this September. Your support can be most timely. 5) Visiting VishNu Temples near you and performing PradakshiNams with the recital of appropriate StOtrams ( AchArya Sri Sooktis). 6) Not buying Gold and precious metals and deflecting instead those expenses towards an AchArya or a dhivya dEsa Kaimkaryam.
